If you owe big money to California for income or sales taxes,California is going to deliver a clear message: Pay your back taxes or lose your drivers license and any professional licenses.
In addition to suspending drivers' licenses and professional licenses, such as the license to practice medicine or law, the new law also gives California permission to work with other states and the IRS to find tax debtors who have shifted assets into out-of-state accounts.
FTB and BOE said that their list of top debtors includes a "Hollywood celebrity, a dot-com millionaire, former professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, dentists, realtors, major builders and many others."
